Kingdom of God and kingdom of darkness.

Jesus said to a group of seemingly worried people who followed him “Seek you first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all these things will be added to you”. Listen, I know you are worried about many things in this life. But Bible promises if you seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness, all your worries will be taken care by God. This is God’s word and you can bank on it one hundred percent, period! Therefore, please stop worrying and being afraid. Instead, start seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness.

Do you know Bible says there is kingdom of darkness where Satan and His demons rule and control? Then there is the kingdom of God or kingdom of light where God’s plans and purposes are carried out. There are only two kingdoms. No,  there is no third kingdom. You and me are in one of these kingdoms. We can see clashes going on between these two spiritual kingdoms right in front of our eyes every day. The clash between two kingdoms intensified even in United States of America in recent years.

See, You and me are born in to the kingdom of darkness. Bible says in 1 John 4:19 “We know we belong to God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” Jesus is the king of the kingdom of light-the kingdom of God’s beloved son. The devil is the king of the kingdom of darkness.

You may be wandering what is the source of all cruelties, deceptions, murders and injustices in the world. We constantly see violence, murder, cheating, deception going on in this world. The daily news media are filled with these event of atrocities. This is the power of the kingdom of darkness and many people are under the control of Satan and His kingdom. They are not even aware that they are in the kingdom of darkness. They do things and they don’t know why they are doing those things. They don’t like what they are doing, but still continue doing the same thing that they dislike.

Now you may say I am good and I am not part of the kingdom of darkness. But sadly to say Bible says you are in the kingdom of darkness until Jesus Christ delivers you and bring you to His kingdom of light. Bible says in Colossians 1: 13, to a group of believers in Christ, “For He delivered us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us in to the kingdom of His beloved son”. You need a rescuer to deliver you from the kingdom of darkness in to the Kingdom of God or Kingdom of light. That rescuer is Lord Jesus Christ. He gave his life as a ransom to deliver you from the kingdom of darkness. You won’t be able to help yourself. You need Jesus Christ for this transfer from the kingdom of darkness in to kingdom of light. We can see this transfer all over the world – it happens when a person come and accept Jesus as his or her Lord and savior.

Now He also said your first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. When Jesus deliver you from the power of darkness and bring you in to the kingdom of light, Bible says He gives His righteousness to you freely. This is a free deliverance and you can’t earn it by your works. Bible says in Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace (unmerited favor) you have been saved through faith ( in Jesus) ; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God”. Do you know, He already paid for your rescue by His death on the Cross of Calvary? The price was paid by His own blood. That much God loved you to deliver you from the kingdom of darkness and bring you in to the kingdom of light – the kingdom of God. Bible says God is one hundred percent holy and there in no un-holiness in Him. Bible comments about our work or deeds in Isaiah 64:6 “We all are infected and impure with sin. When we proudly display our righteous deeds, we find they are but filthy rags”. If rescue from the power of darkness and Satan is possible by our works and efforts, then we don’t need a rescuer or savior. The fact of the matter is we all need a rescuer/savior to deliver us from the power, control and influence of the kingdom of darkness.

The second part of the statement of Jesus was this – Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. As you start seeking the kingdom of God, you will discover you can enter in to God’s kingdom by only way –His righteousness. Not by your righteousness but by his righteousness. He delivers from the kingdom of darkness and declares you as fully and completely righteous. Because the price is paid for you. The only way to enter in to the kingdom of light/Kingdom of God is by the way of the blood of Christ. Ephesian 1: 6 says “He (Jesus) redeemed us by the His own blood”. Bible declares in Acts 4:21 “there is salvation (rescue) in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved”

You will be rescued from the power of darkness in to kingdom of light (of God) right now by the way of the shed blood of Christ for you on the cross. This is the only way for deliverance from the kingdom of darkness. He purchased your rescue/salvation on the cross by paying with His blood. No other name given for your rescue and salvation. Yes, no other name given under the heaven for your deliverance and salvation – the Word of God- the Bible boldly declares.
