The Gospel, the good news acknowledges that humanity’s first parents Adam and Eve were created by God after the wonderful creations of this earth and heavens, in all goodness and perfect because He stated all good and after the creation of Adam and Eve, God even said ‘very good’,
however, man has chosen to disobey God and plunged all mankind in to a fundamental problem that is called sin, and God who is love and just, brought a temporary solution to the sinfulness of man by animal sacrifices, to make known to them that He is holy and we are not, and he cannot and will not tolerate sin, and the penalty of sin is always death, by bending down the bulls and animals to death as a temporary substitution for their sins but they had to repeat it again and again, whenever they mindful of their sins,
however, the animal sacrifices also foreshadowed and looked forward the full and once and for all solution of sin problem through the covenants He made with Abraham that is called the Abrahamic covenant that promised a people, land and through them a ‘worldwide blessings’ in Genesis 12:1:3 through His seed, the promised Messiah,
and reiterated to King David, (Davidic covenant 2 Samuel 7 verses 11 (b) to 20) that God would make an everlasting house and kingdom through David’s distant future descendant and king, although David wanted to make a house for God then and there), which was the expectation of the nation Israel His people, and they called Jesus the son of David anticipating promised Davidic covenant fulfillment in Him, and Mathew correctly traced the genealogy of Jesus Christ in Matthew 1 to David and Abraham (”This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham),
and the New Covenant, Prophesied by Jeremiah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, an era in the future that was promised to the tribe of Judah and Israel in Jeremiah 31, which will usher in to the full and complete forgiveness of sins by the cleansing, and indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and this New Covenant was inaugurated by Jesus, the promised Messiah, in the upper room on the Passover evening (Luke 22:20, Matthew 26:27-29), about whom the angel announced the meaning of the name Jesus is he will save his people from their sin (Matthew 1:21),
and although the New Covenant was inaugurated and the new entity called the church (which consists of Jews and Gentiles) is the beneficiary of it currently, its full fulfillment is yet in future, because it is promised to Judah and Israel and I would say majority of them rejected Christ which was the pathway for the “worldwide blessings” promise coming out of Israel by including Gentiles in the new entity called the church, and the full fulfillment as prophesied by Jeremiah has not fulfilled yet in all its ingredients, although some are, will be fulfilled in the second coming of Christ when the kingdom will be restored to Israel (Acts 1:6) and Romans 11:25-27 where Paul confirms the future restoration of Israel and the way of full salvation as promised in the New Covenant (refer vs 27), “ I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way[e] all Israel will be saved because it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion;
He will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this is my covenant with them
when I take away their sins”,
therefore, the church is the beneficiary of the New Covenant on the basis of Christ’s sacrifice of His body and blood for once-and-for-all forgiveness; however, the full fulfillment of the New Covenant is still in the future as Paul beautifully presented this in the above verse by writing “The deliverer will turn godlessness away from Jacob (Israel) and this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins”,
and dearly beloved, the Gospel, the good news, which all people everywhere must hear, follows a long and well-attested storyline from Genesis to Revelation because in the final chapters of Revelation, there is a reversal of the bad events and curses from Genesis 3- the results of sin and consequently, in the near future, there will be no more death, pain, or mourning, which were the consequences of sin,
and all those who are saved ‘worldwide’ by the merit of the promised Messiah, Christ Jesus—based on the Abrahamic covenant of worldwide blessings through the seed of Isaac and Jacob, and the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant by the distant descendant of King David who will reign eternally, and the full fulfillment of the New Covenant in Christ Jesus for the forgiveness of sins—will see God’s face as in Genesis 1 and 2. God will again dwell with His redeemed people forever, just as in the beginning.
(Indebted to studies with Professor Dr. Mark Yarbrough of DTS, and my resultant above one sentence and one paragraph attempt of the structure of the Gospel story, came out of my studies and resultant thought process based on the Biblical theology and interpretation).
Pease read and be convicted of the truth of God’s Word. He loves you and has already built a beautiful plan for you and your future, regardless of our fallen estate, in the person and work of Christ Jesus, who is the fulfillment of the old scripture scriptures.
